3 Instagram Trends to Watch Out for in 2017

In the last months, a lot of trends and features developed on Instagram. For example, we are huge fan of this new rainbow trend. Using these trends and features the right way can lead to profitable returns for your business.

Made in selected 3 Instagram features that will gain a lot of popularity in 2017.

Instagram shop

Instagram has trialed shoppable products with 20 fashion brands. If you see a certain product in a photo, you can click on it and view the price, brand, shopping site, fabric…  You don’t even have to leave the app to see all of this information. If the customer wants to go through with the purchase, he can click on the “shop now” button and will be redirected to the seller’s website. We think this will be highly popular because it’s  more user friendly than being redirected to the link in the bio, then to another site. It’s much easier as well and you can have multiple links in one photo.

Video without sound

Another new Instagram feature is the video without sound.
85% of viewers do not turn on the sound.  This, because of a few reasons:

  • It is easier to view video’s without having to turn on the sound.
  • Mobile use increases, especially in public places.
  • The attention spans of social media decreases.

As a brand, you can play this to your advantage. If you create videos without any sound, you can attract your viewers’ attention in any situation, wherever they are.  This must be done with brio to ensure your audience understand the message. Made in can help you develop a strong and creative content strategy to captivate and get through to your audience

Live Video

A last feature that can be very handy is the Live Video. According to Livestream, the number of viewers watching Live videos increased by 81% in 2016. At the end of November, Instagram introduced Live video. This new feature is very simple to use. Open the app, press the camera icon in the upper left corner and start Live video. Your followers will see ‘live’ under your profile picture. They can comment directly during the video. This will increase your relationship with your audience due to the personal interaction, you can directly answer to their questions, it increases their feeling of proximity… The main difference between the Facebook Live video function and the Instagram one is that the video disappears from the app after you finish your live stream. On Facebook, the video keeps existing on the page and can be viewed again in the future.
As of last week, you now have the option to save your live video. It will still disappear from the app, but gives you the flexibility to hold onto your video and re-watch it later.
