5 Vietnam cafés you don’t want to miss !

Travelling across Vietnam means amazing street food, breathtaking landscapes, unbearable heat, and strong, homegrown Vietnamese coffee. Though the pho is on point, there might come a time when you crave that morning latte or afternoon break.

Here are five of the best spots beloved by bloggers and instagrammers on the road :

Southern Heat

Rise and shine! Start your day at The Workshop, where coffee making is a sight to behold. From siphon to aeropress, and with the option to choose your coffee beans, this third-wave coffee shop does not disappoint. Michelle Tam, author of both the bestselling cookbook Nom Nom Paleo and the homonymous food blog, made sure to livestream her spectacular coffee break.

Back to Basics

Down south in Ho Chi Minh City, L’Usine offers a chance to score a delicious latte, homemade lasagna, and maybe even a glass of wine! Once refreshed, you might want to roam around their boutique, where you’ll find imported goods as well as L’Usine brand totes and basics. This was not lost on Geneva Vanderzeil, founder of the DIY blog A Pair and a Spare, who spent her first hour in Ho Chi Minh City at L’Usine Le Loi enjoying a Cà Phê.

Wake up Call

Hoi An is the capital of slow-travel in Vietnam. While there, enjoy Com Ga (chicken rice), and a dreamy waterfront walk under the traditional lantern lights. What we’re really saying is your three nights stay might turn into a weeklong one of wanderings. If so, take a cue from Lizzie Mulherin and Amy Wren – partners in crime at the beautifully curated Two Birds Travel – and make brunch at Cocobox a morning ritual. Be sure to get “The wake up call”: double espresso, milk, banana, cacao & honey.

Frisky in Hanoi

Fancy a fresh egg in your coffee? This Hanoian trend is spreading fast, and the adventurous will likely get hooked. Giang Cafe is the most genuine of Vietnamese coffee spots – a hidden gem where tourists and locals alike sip on a sweet, creamy egg coffee (black coffee, sugar and egg yolk) while snacking on sunflower seeds. This would be the ideal spot for traveling lovebirds, but it seems like model and instagrammer Helly Tong chose to share the northern delicacy with friends!

The Rest is History

Cong Caphe is named after the Viet Cong : the name given to the National Liberation Front by its northern adversaries during the Vietnam War. The décor hints at history in a tasteful way : for colorful flower bouquets contrast the bare concrete walls and army-green hues of the interior. Like Lem0n, Vietnamese stylist and pro instagrammer, enjoy a well-deserved, sun-soaked coffee break!
