When it comes to delicious Pho soup and pizza, cheap groceries and a permanent family Sunday vibe, Petite Patrie has got you covered. Rest assured, your coffee addiction won’t suffer in the least: the options are as abundant as they are varied.
Here are 5 of the best coffee shops around Beaubien and Jean-Talon metro stops:
Instagrammer Yesmine Boukhili made sure to stop by Odessa for a third-wave coffee break. While sipping on a soy latte -if you’ve already had one too many, try their homemade lemonade- have a look at the reading selection, which includes tasteful decor and political magazines. A cue: after coffee, hop next door for a classic Vieux Velo brunch!

What started as a coffee truck, which could be found across the city, finally has its own brick and mortar location. It now sits in the heart of a micro-hood which Montrealers affectionately call “Mile-Ex” (nearest metro being Beaubien, we still thought to mention it). Dispatch Coffee roasts its own coffee, offering three single-origin options. During summertime, the garage door is open, and it becomes a neighborhood HQ – take a cue from Francis Duval, and sunbathe regardless the season !

If coffee time is also lunch time, stop by Beaufort for comfort food with a Norwegian twist, paired with a mocha or espresso. As captured by Instagrammer Naomi Auger, you’ll probably enjoy the laid back vibe as much as the wide table in the back: room enough for everyone. Beware, you might have a hard time choosing between salmon gravlax and wild mushroom poutine!
414 Saint-Zotique E
This third-wave coffee shop is pioneering in the art of iced coffee on tap (also called nitro cold brew). Though you could go with a classic latte or espresso, if you are feeling adventurous, try one of Paquebot’s mixed “coffee drinks”, made with single origin Ethiopian nitro cold brew. Elio loves Paquebot’s blue neon, and so do we !
2110 Belanger
Caffè Italia is all about tradition. Family owned since 1956, the decor hasn’t changed, and neither has the cappuccino which you’ll enjoy while watching a soccer game with regulars, or catching up on news like @kenza_kenza (there is no WIFI). An extra perk? Coffee is under three bucks.
6840 Saint-Laurent
The first Saint-Henri cafe opened in 2011 in its homonymous neighborhood, and soon became a reference in terms of single origin coffee roasting in Montreal. Four years later, a new location opened up at Jean-Talon market. With its white marble tables, it is a dreamy spot for coffee breaks between errands. Blogger and Instagrammer Sarah Babineau couldn’t resist !
