After the article “10 Rules to be a good Twitter User” here is another one that will help you be a good user on Instagram. Also feel free to read the recap of our Twitter Chat of the month. The topic was: How to take advantage of Instagram as bloggers? You may find a lot of tips.
So here are our 10 rules:
Rule number 1: Hashtags are perfect if you want to reach new people. However it is advisable not to use more than 11 hashtags by publication. For the same reason that Twitter, it may affect the readability of your publication.
Rule number 2: Post during peak hours. This is obviously not an obligation but you will see more interactions between 8am and 10am and between 7pm and 9pm.
Rule number 3: Do not post multiple pictures in a row. Nobody likes to see 10 publications in a row from the same person. This applies also very well to Twitter.
Rule number 4: Use quality photos. And take as many photos as possible yourself. The interest of Instagram is to take pictures “on the spot” or share your blog posts but mainly it’s posting things of your style and your personality. It is for this reason that your subscribers follow you. However, if, exceptionally, you come to use the contents of another person, no problem, but do not forget to mention the person you took the photo from and/or add the hashtag #regram.
Rule number 5: Be consistent. If you post 5 photos per day, fine. However, your subscribers will expect you to keep this pace. So, to conclude, regardless of the frequency (there are no real rules) remain constant.
Rule number 6: Interact with your community by responding to their comments. A simple thank you will, most of the time, do the job 😉
Rule number 7: Do not use the camera of your Instagram application. Take your photos via the photo of your smartphone. You can then make several attempts before choosing the perfect shot.
Rule number 8: To have a nice page, try to keep a thread, a harmony in filters and changes that you apply to your photos to give a unit to your Instagram account.
Rule number 9: Avoid Shoutouts (when you ask someone else to mention you on their Instagram to get more followers) or the #followme hashtag. It is not very professional.
Ryle number 10: Take care with your description and photo. This is the first thing everyone sees when arriving on your page. So do not forget to put your email address and the address of your blog (Not surprisingly, we know that it’s probably already done ^^)
That’s it for us but the list is not exhaustive of course. Do you have other rules or advice?
