At Made in Blog as you’ve probably already noticed, we are completely fond of Instagram (read here and here, and btw if you want to follow us here we are) but we must admit that we are a little bit disappointed by how things turned since Facebook acquisition.
Indeed since 16th January Instagram can sell your photos to advertisers without your permission, (and of course without compensating you in exchange of your free-labor and artistic talent). Clearly that means that a picture of your brunch could suddenly appear on the package ad of a Tropicana bottle without you even knowing. That would make the Kardashians of our world roar just thinking about the idea of doing free publicity might turn her stomach upside down.
So Bloggers what if you decided to change?!
Made in Blog tested 4 most popular photos applications that you will love!
This app is very similar to Instagram ; however, it has with 3 completely unique characteristics!
- « Discover » Feed: EyeEm tracks what you like and then creates a personalized photo feed that changes along with your interests by keeping track of what you shared and then suggesting you new photos,
- Tags suggestion: EyeEm make the tagging easier by suggesting a topic when you post a picture depending on what you shared and your location. Which can be very useful for someone like me who finds herself constantly stuck for inspiration when the time to « tag » a photo comes and thus avoid scratching the post at the last minute.
- No format limitation. You are not confined to the square format on EyeEm! Great news for bloggers who are crazy in love with panoramic pictures!

- It’s fast, clear and simple!
- This app offers 100 1100 different textures and filters offering unlimited combination of possibilities.
- The slight drawback is that 100Cin1 seems to rely more on quantity rather than quality. Several filters aren’t of great quality and could destroy completely your photo.

Neglected for a long time in favor of Instagram, Hipstamatic is coming back with a new simplified version and a growing social community.
This application inspired from photo-journalism relies on the quality and development of the photographer. It allows sharpness photography and confirms that memorable photo can come from a smart phone. (Photo-journalist Ben Lowy made the Time cover of devastating Sandy hurricane using his Iphone). Hipstamatic offers countless possibilities:
- Unlike Instagram which proposes to apply filters to photos already taken, Hipstamatic let you pre-select filters and lens. This will get you experiencing the pleasure (and frustration) of film-based photography. .
- A button has recently appeared on the corner left to “rewind” the film and to add a new exhibition at your photo. Look at the amazing result:
- A bit too slow, it may take a dozen seconds before you see the result. What could cause some to grind teeth.
Details:
- Costs : 1$
- Options : optique, flash and two films
- Available for Iphone & Android
- For which blogger? For photographers and retro lover that feel like they’re in 2.0 lab
