This month, we’ve met up with Stephanie Boridy, founder of the blog Le Cheap c’est Chic, where she shares her style inspirations as well as her OTD’s. She also started her own company with Melanie Voyer, Soie Agency, where as real life stylists or online shopping editors, they’ll transform your wardrobe from “zero to hero”. You can also follow her instagram which is filled with pictures from her travels, evenings out and gorgeous outfits.
I started LCCC on a whim really. In June of 2008. I was living in Toronto, working at ELLE Canada and blogs were still very much a new thing. I met Cindy of True North Style through a mutual friend and when I visited her blog, I thought, I should be doing this! Without any further thought, it seemed like a natural execution and outlet for my interest of fashion and the industry. Honestly at that time it was nothing more than a hobby and I NEVER imagined it would evolve to what it is today (the industry and LCCC).
It comes from everywhere really. Mostly from my surroundings, whether it be from my friends, to online and definitely my travels.
It’s as effortless as possible but pulled together. A great jean and shirt or knit with a statement bag and easy to walk in flat or bootie (come fall). Usually I can sum up my OOTD in three pieces.
When I get a great picture! And hearing the amazing feedback I get from readers either by email or when I happen to be lucky enough to run into a reader on the street. It’s so rewarding knowing I’m putting something out there that’s inspiring others.
It’s hard to say because I cant see into the future, but right now I’m working hard with my partner Melanie Voyer on our brand, Soie Agency which umbrellas styling and (online) shopping. I feel Soie is a likely (natural) evolution from LCCC. Personal style blogging today is so ubiquitous, I believe it’s less relevant than it was a few years ago, in the sense that there has to be something ‘more’ to it. My contribution is evolving my brand into something more career oriented and professional, that manages to combine my fervent interest in web and fashion, thereby being an extension of LCCC.
If I’m being honest, I’d say don’t start a blog. It’s less original a concept than it once was as its pretty much peaked. Distinguish yourself instead by creating a brand for yourself on Instagram (it’s basically live blogging!) and Pinterest. I think there’s more potential in those forums and social media right now, than starting a personal style blog.
Instagram hands down!
Lipstick! Matte. Or Vaseline Lip Therapy. Love!
Italy! Tuscany and the Amalfi coast!
Whenever I’m not working, I’m online catching up on my favourite sites or online shopping. Seems the web follows me no matter what 😉 I also love trying out new restaurants and taking my dog, Chloe for walks.
