Blogging Tips for the New Year

To start the new year on the right foot, here are our 5 simple blogging tips that’ll help you make some great headway.

1. Consistency

They key to being consistent is knowing what you want to achieve with your blog. Do you want to share your passion for fashion (and build your network)? Do you wish to build your personal brand? Or is it your way of asserting yourself as an expert in your field?

Whatever your reasons are, make sure they are a 100% clear in your mind, which in return will allow you to set the right goals and have reoccurring readers.

2. Be honest with what you want

Your blog can only get as big as the efforts you put in. Try to realistically assess what it is you want, and how much effort that can require. Since that’s not always easy to determine, ask other bloggers who’s work you admire, how much time they invest in their blog per month. This’ll allow you to determine if your objectives are realistic or not.

3. Be Creative

Easier said than done, we’ll give you that. So instead, here’s another question you can ask yourself: “What sets you apart from everyone else?” It doesn’t have to be complicated; a simple “I have great photography skills that complement my written posts” or “I have in depth knowledge about x subject” can already serve as a good start. Having a little something to differentiate your blog can make a bigger difference than you think. By focusing on your strengths, you can discover what makes you unique.

4. Let yourself be inspired

Once you’ve decided what sets you apart, feel free to explore other blogs and make a list of best practices. You could easily discover many ways to better your own blog and make it even more relevant for your readers.

5. Have fun with it

Blogging, for some, is a great way to make money, but in most cases shouldn’t be the main focus. If you hate writing/tweeting/facebooking and it’s a burn every time you have to write a post, well maybe this isn’t for you. Because, if you take all the fun out of blogging, well there isn’t much left. Remember, blogging should be a way to share what you love most
