(Re)discover Paris with Anna Dawson & her Balloon Diary

Originally from Sydney, Australia, Anna Dawson took a chance when she left everything behind to achieve her biggest dream : moving to Paris. Only two days after her arrival, before she even had time to make new friends, she bought herself a pink helium balloon for her birthday… And that’s how The Balloon Diary was born! Both a blog and an Instagram account, this journal is a true little gem that we, at Crème Mag, simply LOVE.

« When you walk down the street in Paris with a pink balloon, people smile. » – Anna Dawson

If you’re in love with Paris, if you dream of going (or going back!) to the City of Light, you can travel with Anna and her pink balloon in the meantime!

The Sacré-Cœur Basilica

Culminating point of the French capital, Montmartre is the seat of a charming district that’s most appreciated by tourists for its authentic feel. On top of its 222 steps, you’ll find one of the most stunning views of the city, as well as the beautiful Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which attracts no less than 10 million visitors a year!

The Tuileries Garden

The 1st arrondissement’s great Tuileries garden is delimited by the Louvre Museum, Rivoli Street, the Seine River and Place de la Concorde. Earlier this year, the Roue de Paris Ferris wheel was erected on its grounds, a fitting addition to the already whimsical park.

The Colonnes de Buren

Located in the inner courtyard of Paris’ Palais Royal, a curious art installation by Daniel Buren called Les Deux Plateaux – but most often referred to as Les Colonnes de Buren – is a modern twist that makes it the perfect setting for Anna Dawson’s pink balloon!

The Notre-Dame Cathedral

We already mentioned that more than 10 million people stop by the Sacré-Cœur Basilica each year, but do you know how many go to the famous Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral, which was built 852 years ago? Cue drum roll… Twice that number! Indeed, Quasimodo’s home is Europe’s most popular monument.

The Eiffel Tower

When you think Paris, you think Eiffel Tower! Obviously, our dear Aussie girl walked around it with her pink balloon more than once, recently capturing this magical ice cream flavored moment. “Paris, je t’aime!” she captioned the picture.
