It’s the new glasses from Snapchat. Wearable tech is still kind of weird, we have to admit, but unlike Google glasses which no normal person would ever wear, Snapchat glasses are the first steps into a future we could imagine living in. First, it has no display, only a camera recording and publishing on your Snapchat account. Also, Snapchat glasses are very affordable, as they retail at 130$. They’re also very easy to use, you only have to pair them with your phone and they are ready to go within minutes.
115-degree wide angle, it captures circular video. You can then watch them horizontally or vertically in the app !
You have to be patient… or very rich ! Right now, the only official way to buy them is from a vending machine. In November, a single pop-up dispenser has emerged in Los Angeles, stayed a few weeks and is now moving around the country. Right now it’s in New-York and nobody knows where it will be after January 2017. Every day, people line up to buy glasses before stock runs out. It’s an event as much as an experience !
You can also buy them on eBay, of course, but you will have to increase your budget. As always, when supply is limited the demand is high… prices are around 1,000$.
Of course, influencers were early adopters and were sent glasses to try on !
TechSmartt did an unboxing video, allowing us to share his excitement and to discover the product with him:
What’s inside, the popular YouTube channel opening up objects looked up at the inside of the glasses to see what they were made of:
PrankvsPrank did an entire vlog with the glasses – showing us how people react in real life, telling us that people usually react differently when the know they are being filmed so Snapchat Spectacles allows us to capture unfiltered, real life.
